All Ford Cars will now come with In-car Alexa personal assistant. The American based car giant has collaborated with Amazon for rolling out this technology in the market. The latest application would be as good as other voice-based personal assistants revealed recently by BMW and Mercedes-Benz. As for Ford’s Sync interface, it will be retained, albeit it could work in conjunction with Amazon’s flagship communicator.

This indicates that the new voice-guided app could be introduced in other markets as well other than United States. Talking about the new Applink system, it is based on an open source Smart Device Link Software which enables engaging other processors like the one used by Amazon for Alexa, with it.
The Smart Device Link is a cohesive software that will further improve the open source. Coming to the functions, drivers could access in-Car Alexa assistant for traffic related information, latest news and music including Amazon Music library. It also gives access to other personalized features such as listening to audiobooks, weather information, internet surfing and search local destinations through navigation. Interestingly, the In-Car Alexa will also come with a home-to-car feature that will allow linking it to the Amazon Echo Device at user’s home. Users can voice command some internet enabled functions through this, such as house lighting, garage doors, security systems, etc. In addition, the home-to-car feature will also enable users to lock unlock doors, monitor vehicle readings (fuel level and battery range) and start-stop engine of their hybrid/electric vehicles.
