The Indian car market has already seen several big launches in 2019. The likes of Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Honda Cars India and Ford India have either introduced new products or driven in facelifts. Some of the important launches this year have been 3rd-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR, 2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Alto facelift, Ford Figo facelift, 2019 Ford Endeavour, Mahindra XUV300, 10th-generation Honda Civic and Tata Harrier.

Even after so many launches, there is no halt to the flow of new vehicles in India in 2019. We have various new introductions coming up in different segments. In the coming few months, we will see new launches in the SUV, compact SUV and premium hatchback segments.

With all the launches, the competition is expected to heat up. More so because major companies like Hyundai Motor India, MG (Morris Garages) Motor India, Tata Motors, Toyota and Jeep have lined up their products. Below are the top five upcoming cars and SUVs in India in 2019.

Hyundai Venue will have three engine options — two in petrol and one in diesel.

Hyundai Venue

The new compact SUV from Hyundai will be launched in India on May 21. Hyundai Venue will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV30. The company is expected to price Venue compact SUV in the range of Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have three engine options — two in petrol and one in diesel. One of the most exciting features of Hyundai Venue will be ‘BlueLink’ connectivity technology.

MG Hector

MG Motor India will launch Hector SUV in India in June 2019. The production of MG Hector also commenced at the company’s Halol (Gujarat) plant today. The premium SUV will challenge Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500. It is expected to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The fact that Hollywood superstar Benedict Cumberbatch is the brand ambassador of the company has led to more publicity. MG hector will have both petrol and diesel engines. Something exciting to look forward to in Hector is its connectivity technology — iSMART.

Tata Altroz is based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture.

Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz will be launched in India in mid-2019. This premium hatchback will challenge the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Toyota Glanza. Tata Motors might price Altroz between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will showcase the Impact 2.0 Design Language and is based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. We are expecting the upcoming car to get both petrol and diesel engine options.

Expectations are that Jeep Compass Trailhawk will make its way to India in July 2019.

Expectations are that Jeep Compass Trailhawk will make its way to India in July 2019. This off-road variant of Jeep Compass might be launched in the price range of Rs 26 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will get options for petrol and diesel engines. One major feature it will have is the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System combined with the Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 System.

Toyota Glanza is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2019.

Toyota Glanza will be the first product to come out of the Toyota-Suzuki agreement. Recently, Toyota released a teaser of the rear portion of Glanza and the upcoming hatchback looks more or less similar to Maruti Suzuki Baleno from that angle. We are expecting Toyota Glanza to be launched in India in the second half of 2019. It will come with BS-VI (BS6) compliant engines. It might be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
